Have a sweet tooth? Then Saturday’s ninth annual Dessert Extravaganza featuring items such as chocolate truffles, brownie caramel pecan bars and apple-raisin-walnut pie is the place to be. The annual fundraiser for Community Christian Schools begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center on the corner of Joiner Parkway and First Street. All of the desserts are entered by local residents and school parents. The desserts are judged by a local officials and event sponsors. First-, second- and third-place awards are given in four dessert categories — cakes, confections, cookies and pies. Everyone attending the event casts a vote for the People’s Choice Award. The Dessert Extravaganza is open to the public. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance at Community Christian Schools or at the Lincoln Area Chamber of Commerce. Tickets are also available at the door. Ticket-holders may taste an unlimited number of desserts. A limited number of “I Bought It” tickets are also available for $20 and allows the holder to purchase a whole dessert. The event also includes raffle prizes, a silent auction and a live auction.
