On Saturday, Jan. 19, the Lincoln Democratic Club is sponsoring a food donation drive for the Salt Mine as the club’s National Day of Service activity.
All residents of the community are asked to join in by contributing food that will be distributed through the Salt Mine to local families in need.
During 2010, the Salt Mine distributed 2 million meals.
It looks as though the total for 2012 was nearly 4 million!
Of particular need are canned goods, boxed meals, dry goods and baby food.
The Salt Mine is located on the corner of Lincoln Boulevard (G Street) and Sixth Street, with the donation site on the Sixth Street side of the building.
Donations can be made between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
The National Day of Service honors Martin Luther King as a day to encourage individual and community projects to serve one’s own community. Please participate by donating food for our local families in need.
