Cross country Zebras face all divisions at Yolo championships

The Lincoln High cross-country team got a good taste of the 2012 competition last week running in the first Pioneer Valley League Meet Wednesday and then turning out for the all-divisions Yolo County Championships on Saturday. Fighting Zebras’ senior Abi Lund showed she would be a strong contender for sections and possibly state by running seventh at the PVL Meet and coming back to place 32nd among 84 runners at the Yolo meet. Lund turned in a time of 21:48 at the league meet. Although Bear River’s Mary Nattrass won in a time of 20:06, Lund trailed second place by less than a minute. Rounding out Lincoln’s varsity girls at league were Katy Mercier (22:58), Haley Higgins (23:30), Savannah Berkley (25:12), Kali Federwisch (25:23) and Kelsi Snook (25:35). Dylan Toerpe (19:31) was 18th at league, but did not compete in the YCC. Keeping pace with Toerpe were Sean Gage (19:59), Bryant Garcia (20:08), Jacob Edwards (20:20) and Jake Palmyra (20:58). Also running were Uriah Smith (21:25), Matthew Binning (24:20) and Liam Hao (no time recorded). Pascual Marquez led the frosh/soph boys in a time of 15:09. Aaron Jackson (15:10) was next with Evan Deatherage (15:51), Daniel Hagge (16:05), Brian Ackerson (18:22) and William Barker (20:09) filling out the squad. The frosh/soph girls were Megan Snook, Annika Lehenbauer, Kelsy Prentice, Katrina Redford but no times were indicated.
