The Lincoln Hills Coyotes 70s senior softball team started strong in the Sun Eagles Tournament, Del Webb Field, held this past weekend, but temperatures in the 90s withered their finish. After dumping the host Sun Eagles and visiting California Oaks squads on Saturday, the Coyotes went up against the Walnut Creakers on Sunday. Both clubs were undefeated and battled down to the final inning to determine the tournament champion. The results were Creakers No. 1, Coyotes No. 2, both finished 4-1. Rich Huskey hit for an .813 average, slugged for 1.063, and drove in nine runs. John Wible also had nine runs-batted-in, and averaged .750. Bob Napoli averaged .769, Wally Etterbeek .750, and Gym Mikaelsen posted two triples while slugging 1.33. In September, the Coyotes will head for a tournament in Turlock.
