The Lincoln Hills Coyotes, a senior softball team, traveled to Vacaville on Oct. 29 for their first Winter League doubleheader. This is the first time that the Coyotes have competed in the eight-team Winter League, which includes teams from Folsom, Sacramento, Fair Oaks, Penn Valley, Placerville, Suisun and Vacaville. Games are held each Thursday through April 1. This is the first time that players from all four Coyote teams (the 55s, 60s, 65s, 70s) have played together on one team. The Coyotes split a doubleheader with Vacaville last week and will host the Foothill Acorns at Del Webb Field today. Nick Fox (four runs, three RBI), Bob Fernandez (three runs), Carlos Zavala (three RBI), Ron Rodda (.714, three RBI, two doubles, triple) and Bill Bigone (three RBI) led the offense against Vacaville while Roger Cain, Ron Greeno, Mike Bunyard and Bigone were the defensive leaders. Nick Eterovich and Jim Sandin were the Lincoln pitchers.
