Coyote 70s go 2-4 at Merced tournament; Classics sweep Placerville

The Lincoln Hills Coyote 70s went 2-4 at a tournament in Merced over the weekend. In three of its losses, Lincoln lost the lead in the final inning. John Wible and Jim Haworth homered for Lincoln while the other offensive leaders were John Maranta (.765 batting average, three triples), Larry Manley (.722) and Jim Berry (.688, 12 RBI). Lincoln will play in the Rock ‘N Reno tournament next week. The Coyote 65s swept Vacaville in a Sierra League doubleheader on May 20, getting solid pitching from Bill Stroh and Vigil Dahl. Wible was a defensive standout. The Coyote 60s Black swept Suisun in a doubleheader as Carlos Zavala, Roger Cain and John Moran each homered. The Coyote 65s will host Woodland in a doubleheader Thursday at Del Webb Field, first game at 9:30 a.m. Sun City Classics The Sun City Classics swept a doubleheader in Placerville on Friday, winning 22-10 and 13-11. George Wilson, Len Preader and Rod Violette were the leading hitters for Lincoln. Lincoln is now 10-4 in league play.
