Coyote 60s sweep Woodland, go 3-2 at tourney

The Lincoln Hills Coyote 60s, a senior softball team, swept Woodland in a Sierra League doubleheader last week. The Coyote 70s hosted Ful-Cam and split a league doubleheader. Both Lincoln teams also participated in the Sacramento Players Tournament with the Coyote 60s going 3-2 in Citrus Heights and the 70s going 2-3 in Yuba City. The 60s are 20-15 on the season while the 70s are 38-12. The 60s will host the Northern Express today at Del Webb Field while the 70s will play in Placerville. Both are doubleheaders. The Coyote Invitational will be held this Saturday and Sunday at Del Webb Field when two Lincoln teams, the Sun Eagles and the Coyote 70s, will compete with teams from Sacramento and Modesto. The first game is at 8 a.m. Saturday. The Coyote 60s also swept Elk Grove in a doubleheader the week before they swept Woodland. Both the Coyote 65s and the Coyote 55s competed in the Penn Valley tournament recently. The 55s went 2-3 while the 65s ended up with a record of 4-1. Classics sweep Placerville The Sun City Classics 70s swept visiting Placerville during a recent doubleheader, winning 12-6 and 13-4. Lincoln’s Stan Young and Dave Alley made several strong plays defensively while Vern DeVincenzi led the offense with a batting average of 1.000. The Classics are 12-4 in league play this season.
