Cow chips earn Rotary first place

-A +A
Rufus the cow and the Lincoln Rotary received first-place recognition for the best walking/riding group in Lincoln’s Fourth of July parade. The entry focused on the Cow Chip Bingo fundraising event the Rotarians are sponsoring. Cow Chip Bingo is to raise money for all youth activities in Lincoln. “We are very much aware of the economy and decided to hold a fundraiser that didn’t require extra funds and gift items from the ever generous local business community,” said club service-director Claire Luke. The only source of income for the Cow Chip Bingo is from ticket sales. The event will be at McBean Park from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 25. A cow will be released on the marked field at 10 a.m. and, wherever the cow drops her “chip” will determine the winner of a cash prize up to $2,500. Tickets are $5 for 1, $25 for 6 and $50 for 14. Tickets are available from any Rotarian or call Luke at 253-3711. Lincoln Rotary has a membership of more than 50 members and meets at noon every Thursday at the Women’s Club. Some club projects are sponsoring the White Sox Little League team, regularly collecting food for the Salt Mine and working with the Interact Club at Lincoln High School.
