It’s official. Cool Hand Luke’s will move into the former Beermann’s Restaurant building at 645 5th St. John Drust and his father, Mike Drust, received an ABC license this week to serve beer, wine and liquor at the western-theme restaurant. The restaurant/nightclub will open by February, John Drust said. The former Beermann Restaurant site was vacant for about five years, according to previous News Messenger reports. The nightclub will open initially Fridays and Saturdays, Drust said. The nightclub will then “be open as much as the community needs it” with theme nights added. “It will be the largest nightclub in Placer County. It will be bigger than anything in old town Roseville,” Drust said. Cool Hand Luke’s Steakhouse/Saloon will take up 6,000 square feet downstairs and 6,000 square feet upstairs, Drust said in August. Cool Hand Luke’s is part of the Fresno-based Dynaco Food Concepts, which also includes Perko’s Cafe Grill, Luke’s Wild West Grill and Huckleberrys. The restaurant franchise is in 10 California locations, including Yuba City and Citrus Heights; and Eagle, Idaho. The Drusts are Lincoln residents.
