Consider making downtown streets one-way for shopping ease

-A +A
I agree with Pete Santina’s suggestion (Nov. 10 News Messenger, page 4, “Resident envisions facelift for downtown streets”) to study making G street a one-way southbound street. Then F, E or D street could be the one-way northbound street. If E street is chosen to be northbound only, perhaps portions of F street could be made to be a pedestrian-only shopping area more often. And if 2nd through 6th streets alternatively become connecting east and west-bound one-way streets (only between G and E), traffic light times could be reduced further and it would be easier to use the crosswalks across the numbered streets along F if you only have to look for traffic in one direction per crossing. So many possibilities. It’s worth studying! John Alessio, Lincoln
