Today Lifeline Screening at Grace Lutheran Church – Grace Lutheran Church hosts Life Line Screening, which provides preventive screenings to help residents identify their risk of stroke, vascular disease and osteoporosis before the catastrophic effects of these conditions can occur. The event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. is open to residents at Grace Lutheran Church, 625 Second St. in Lincoln (across the street from the former Rainbow Market). The event will be at the intersections of Joiner Parkway and Ferrari Ranch Road, and East Joiner Parkway; as well as the intersection of Joiner Parkway and Sterling Parkway from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day. Placer County Fire/Cal Fire will be located at the Thunder Valley Casino from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. both days. Walk along Auburn Ravine – with Lincoln Open Space Committee members who will start at 11 a.m. at the Moore Road parking lot for the Auburn Ravine Park. The walk ends at Highway 65. The walk’s purpose is to check the heritage oak, which the committee reports are in danger and being damaged and felled due to an increase in the beaver population. This walk is open to the public. Composting and Preparing Your Soil – See different methods of composting and a variety of bin styles, and also learn how to feed your soil at the Placer Nature Center’s demonstration garden, 3700 Christian Valley Road, in Auburn at 10 a.m. The UCCE Placer County Master Gardeners presents gardening workshops on the fourth Saturday of the month through April.
