The Lincoln Hills Classics, a senior softball team, won a Sierra League playoff tournament in Placerville Friday. The tournament included teams from Lodi, Sacramento and Placerville. Lincoln trailed 6-4 in the last inning of the final game but Ed Sorenson slammed a grand slam to win the game. Teammates Vern Devencenzi and Dar Galloway had hits in the inning. Dave Ramm was the winning pitcher. Earlier in the tournament Lincoln beat the Sacramento 70s 10-5 as Sorenson and Bud Conners led the defense. Galloway was the winning pitcher. The Classics completed league play with a record of 19-7. Coyote 65s claim title in Manteca Lincoln Hills went 7-1 at the Northern California Championships in Manteca while winning a championship. Three 60s teams and one Major Plus team was included in the tournament. Three other Coyote teams from Lincoln also participated. The Coyote 70s had a good tournament but were eliminated in the semi-finals. Lincoln’s Coyote 55s and Coyote 60s also competed.
