Chief's funeral Thursday

Services for longtime Lincoln Police Chief Robert Jimenez will be held today in Auburn. Jimenez passed away July 7 in Auburn at the age of 87. Funeral services will be at St. Joseph’s Church at 1162 Lincoln Ave. in Auburn. Following that, his ashes will be interred at the Lincoln Cemetery at 1445 First St. A reception will then be held at the McBean Park Pavilion. All three events are open to the public. Jimenez served as Lincoln’s police chief for 32 years, retiring in 1979. He was three thrice recognized by the Lincoln City Council for his tenure. Before serving as police chief, Jimenez was a decorated World War II veteran who served with Gen. George S. Patton’s Third Army in Italy.
