The Lincoln Little League Majors playoffs began last night with the No. 2 Cardinals taking a 10-0 decision over the No. 7 Angels.

Two teams from Lincoln are invited to the District 11 Tournament of Champions. The Braves secured the No. 1 spot by coming out on top of the 2014 Majors standings. The No. 2 team will be determined by who comes out on top in the postseason tournament.

Wyatt Arbaugh got things started in the first inning for the Red Birds by doubling in Cole Vineyard. Garret Toff then followed with a near straightaway home run over the center-field fence to clear the bases and give the St. Lou Crew a 4-0 lead.

Arbaugh also controlled the game from the mound. He gave up just three hits, struck out eight and surrendered no bases on balls.

Cardinals’ offense: Aiden Barfield (run), Vineyard (3runs), Gage Eastlick (3-3, 2runs, 3RBI), Arbaugh (2-2, double, 2runs, 2RBI) , Tofft (HR, run, 3RBI), Chase Christopherson (single, RBI) and Jason Johnson (single, run, RBI).

Angels’ offense: Nate Schmich (single), Evan Odin (single), Colby Green (double).

Green pitched three innings for the Halos, fanning five. Isola and Shawndell Williams pitched in relief.

The Angels were error free and the Cards committed one.

Tonight, the No. 3 Giants will take on the No. 6 Pirates in game two of the playoffs; game time is at 7:15 p.m., McBean Park.
