California Breeze softball makes strong showing at nationals

Locals help club finish with 6-3 record

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. _ The California Breeze 16U softball team took their game on the road to the ASA Junior Olympic Nationals tournament and made a solid showing before scouts and college recruiters. The club won six of its nine games and wound up 33rd out of 172 teams. One of their losses was a 5-4 thriller at the hands of the KC Peppers when the Kansas City club rallied to win in the seventh inning. Playing with the Breeze are Alanna Rainer, Mallory Asaro, Tiara Turner, and Abigail Lund. Rainer, Asaro, and Turner are from Rocklin, Lund resides in Lincoln. Rainer and Asaro also play for Rocklin High School, Turner plays for Oakmont High, and Lund for Lincoln?s Fighting Zebras. Turner credited the team?s success to effort and focus. She said in spite of the hard work to play at the level she?s achieved, she wouldn?t have it any other way. ?I just love the sport that much,? said Turner crediting the work and team?s determination for their success. ?I have plans to go to 18U girl?s softball.?
