Perhaps smarting a bit after giving up an 8-3 decisions to the league-leading  Phillies March 16, the Lincoln Little League Majors Braves took it out on the Rays to the tune of 17-7 in 3 ½ innings of play Friday.

The win pulled the Braves to withing a half game of the Phils in the Majors' standings.

For the most part, the Atlanta nine played small ball with the exception of one big ball off the bat of Cole Cavarra. His shot cleared the fence just left of center for a two-run blast in the second inning.

The fifth-place Rays held their own until the third inning when the Florida nine’s pitching broke down. Their hurlers gave up six base-on-balls, two batters hit by pitches and five hits. Other than Cavarra’s home run, the Rays did not give up an extra-base hit in the contest.

Cavarra also started on the hill for the Braves and collected eight strikeouts. Dylan Rhodes came on in relief to cap the game in the top of the fourth.
