Boy Scouts went extra mile with food drive

-A +A
The Boy Scouts of Lincoln conducted a food drive on March 1, and what a food drive it was. They went way over the top ¦ collecting over four tons of food for our local food closet, the Salt Mine. While the Scouts have done food drives for many years, this was the best response they have ever had. They said every home they went to in Lincoln gave food. They collected over 9,000 items to be given to the families in our area. Demands for food assistance have escalated greatly in the last year with more than twice the number of families needing help. With gas prices going up and many people without work, this food drive is a lifesaver for Lincoln. Because of the great response and the equally great need, the Scouts are considering another food drive in September. Thank you, Boy Scouts of Lincoln. Glen Vance, Lincoln
