Through March 27, the Air Force Association, Claude Farinha Chapter, is now accepting applications for Teacher of the Year from the Sacramento area. The Air Force Association enlists the support of school principals, administrators, students and parents to help identify outstanding teachers. The association is an independent, nonprofit civilian-education organization promoting public understanding of aerospace power. Applicants should teach mathematics, science, engineering, technology, or aerospace educational courses in kindergarten to 12th grade. The winner will be formally recognized in late April at an annual awards banquet. In addition to the chapter award, which includes a $500 cash prize, the recipient is automatically entered into state competitions with potential additional cash prizes of $1,500.
