Battle at the Capital includes local youth Midget teams

The three-day Battle at the Capital football weekend continues today with four high school games at Del Oro, and local youth teams will be in action Sunday.

Granite Bay’s Midget team will play Del Campo at 11 a.m. Sunday, followed by Roseville against Woodland at 1 p.m.

In the final game at 3 p.m., Placer County and Nevada County Sheriff’s deputies will meet in the Battle of the Badges Memorial Game.

Today’s high school games match Capital Christian against Scotts Valley at 11 a.m., Bear River against Reno-Hug at 2 p.m., Pleasant Grove against Stockton-Lincoln at 5 and Del Oro against Westlake at 8.

Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for students with an ID.

— Linemen Jedediah Smith, Ben Newman and Braden Bouvais paved the way for Nathan Lewis, who scored all four touchdowns for the Junior Grizzlies.

On defense, Granite Bay’s Nick Poulos and Neil Walker dominated the defensive line.
