The trip to Chico has become a bit longer for the Lincoln Little League 9- and 10-year-old All-Stars, who have to battle through the losers’ bracket in the Northern California Division 2 tournament. Lincoln was handed a 14-1 loss by San Ramon on Saturday and will try to stay alive when it plays on Monday at 8 p.m. One more loss will end Lincoln’s remarkable run in All-Star action. Assistant coach Raymond Garcia did not have much to say about Lincoln’s loss. San Ramon jumped out to a 7-0 and never looked back. Lincoln was unable to muster much of a comeback. “We just didn’t hit the ball,” Garcia said. Lincoln’s only run came in the second inning when Michael Hamp led off with a triple and scored on Ryan Graham’s single. This is Lincoln’s first appearance in the Division tournament since 1980. Garcia was a member of that Major All-Star team. The current squad advanced by winning the District 4 and Section 11 championships. The Section 11 tournament was held at Larry Costa Field.
