Lincoln News Messenger Zebra Tales correspondent Travis Deuerling talks to the man who defies time competing in the World Master Athletic Championships. Lincoln’s George Patterson Jr. didn’t let turning 50 keep him from doing what he has always loved – sports competition. Having been around sports all of his life, either with his father or his friends, Patterson keeps his athletic fire burning choosing one of the Olympic Games most difficult events – the decathlon. Not only does he compete, but ranks third in the world in decathlon, and No. 1 in the United States. More on decathlete George Patterson next week.
