Know and Go: What: Lincoln Area Archives Museum’s grand opening When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday Where: 472 E St., Lincoln Info: 253-9972 With the help of the Native Sons, Native Daughters and Archives Museum volunteers, the Lincoln Area Archives Museum will be open this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Volunteers are needed for this date and to extend the regular schedule. The present regular schedule is from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursdays. Visitors are welcome. A membership drive for the museum also started this month. Membership supports computers, insurance, printing and filing supplies, and displays. All positions at the Lincoln Area Archives Museum are volunteer. On Saturday, the Native Sons of the Golden West, Silver Parlor 63 will also hold its 125th- anniversary during the inaugural Italian Festival. In addition, a grand opening for the Lincoln Area Archives Museum will coincide with the Italian Festival. Cake will be served to the public in the room next to the Archives from 2 to 4 p.m. Four docents from Sutter’s Fort in Sacramento will dress in period attire and present living history scenes. Two recently refurbished buggies will be on display in front of the Lincoln Area Archives Museum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Members of Native Sons, under the guidance of Billy Aidnik, obtained and worked on refurbishing the buggies. Recently, the buggies were moved to a local shop where Gary Brockman and Dennis McLeod continued working on the larger buggy. Brockman has spent many hours putting the project together, sanding, painting, finding parts, and completing upholstery work. The Lincoln Area Archives Museum is at 472 E St. in Lincoln.
