The Fourth Annual Fred Biletnikoff Hall of Fame Golf Classic is set for Monday at Catta Verdera Country Club in Lincoln. Proceeds from this event, with Wells Fargo as the primary sponsor, will benefit the Biletnikoff Foundation with offices in Granite Bay and Dublin, Calif. Biletnikoff, a former receiver for the Oakland Raiders, and his wife Angela live in Roseville. The Golf Classic includes celebrity players from across the nation, a continental breakfast, a shotgun start, a putting contest, a hole-in-one contest, a 19th hole reception, a dinner, entertainment and a silent auction. Other major sponsors are the Oakland Raiders and the Tim Brown Touch Down Club. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Biletnikoff Foundation is a non profit organization dedicated to supporting youth, primarily from low-to moderate-income neighborhoods or backgrounds, who are “at risk” particularly to the realities of drug and alcohol addiction as well as domestic and gender violence. The foundation supports Tracey’s Place of Hope (a residential treatment center dedicated to helping teens recover from drugs, alcohol abuse and violence) in the San Francisco Bay Area. A second facility is in the planning stages in the Placer County area. New for this year’s event is the gallery, where for $50 per person, spectators can watch the tournament, and receive a commemorative T-shirt and transportation to and from the tournament. No celebrity autographs will be given but guests can take photos from a designated area. The Biletnikoff Foundation will host an autograph show Sunday and every confirmed celebrity is invited to sign for the public. This event will take place from 3-7 p.m. at Coaches Restaurant located in the Strikes Family Entertainment Center in Rocklin. Biletnikoff is a former Oakland Raiders receiver who was inducted in the NFL Hall of Fame in 1988 and was named the MVP of Super Bowl XI. In 14 seasons with the Oakland Raiders, he had 589 receptions, 8,974 receiving yards and 76 touchdowns and was selected to six pro bowls. The Biletnikoff Award is given to the best wide receiver in the nation in college football each year. Biletnikoff is also a member of the College Football Hall of Fame, Bay Area Hall of Fame, Gator Bowl Hall of Fame and the Florida State Hall of Fame and was named to the “All-Century Team” for his play in the NFL.
