On Thursday, Dec. 6, at approximately 5:23 p.m.,  Lincoln Police Department officers responded to the 1800 block of Monument Drive for a report of an at-risk missing adult, Gary Anthony Griffin.

On Friday morning, he was located and is safe, according to the city of Lincoln's public information officer Jill Thompson.

A 74-year-old Caucasian male, suffering from dementia, walked away from his home 20 minutes before, wearing a gray sweatshirt, blue jeans and a pair of slippers.

Officers and Citizens on Patrol from Lincoln Police Department, along with members of the Lincoln Fire Department and members of Del Webb’s CERT team (Citizen Emergency Response Team) conducted a coordinated search of the Del Webb community and adjacent communities and were unable to locate him.

A helicopter from the Sacramento Police Department checked the open space areas and trails in the area of operation with no results.

Griffin was considered at-risk because of his dementia and inability to find his way home. Thick fog fell upon the southern area of Lincoln at midnight, which made the search for Griffin more difficult. The search continued until Friday (Dec. 7) morning.
