A Roseville woman was flown to an area hospital with major injuries after her car was hit by another Wednesday afternoon. At about 1:45 p.m., 19-year-old Amanda Dias was reportedly driving her white Honda Civic northbound on Industrial Avenue at Athens Avenue when, for reason still under investigation, she turned left directly in front of the gray Dodge Intrepid Iva Adriano, 25, of Cottonwood, who was driving eastbound on Athens, according to Officer David Martinez with the Auburn area California Highway Patrol Office. The Intrepid reportedly struck the left side of Dias’ car, which caused “major damage to both vehicles,” Martinez said. Dias was flown via a Cal Star helicopter to Sutter Roseville Medical Center to treat “major injuries,” Martinez said. Dias’ two passengers, who also suffered major injuries, were taken via American Medical Response ambulance to Sutter Roseville, Martinez said. Adriano was driven via ambulance to Mercy San Juan to treat moderate injuries, Martinez said. Athens Avenue, which is located in Lincoln next to Thunder Valley Casino, was closed in both directions for about an hour, Martinez said. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor, Martinez said. ~ Staff report
