Lincoln Hills pickleball wraps up 3-day tournament

Players enjoyed ideal temperatures for the pickleball club’s three-day tournament Sept. 13-15 at Lincoln Hills.

Depending on number of entries, divisions were divided into “legends” for teams whose average age was 68-plus and “masters” for the younger competitors. There were no split masters/legends divisions in 2.5 and 4.0 skill categories.

The tournament drew more than 100 players making up 54 teams.

Following are those making the podium in their skill level:

2.5 Division

Gold: Bill Lampton and Connie Giannini. Silver: Alain Girard and Anita Lehrer. Bronze: Tom and Jody Watson.

3.0 Masters:

Gold: Bob and Molly Morris. Silver: David Bacon and Marcy Westby. Bronze: Ed Musgrave and Monika Luz.

3.0 Legends:

Gold: Don Neumeier and Marilyn Catania. Silver: Bruce Barlow and Sherrill Slotsve. Bronze: Ron Slagle and Sue Walden.

3.5 Masters:

Gold: Ross Meiklejohn and Carol Nakao. Silver: Kathy Dillon and Gary Filzetti.

Bronze: Sharon Klotz and Mitch Miladinovich.

 3.5 Legends:

Gold: Ron Greeno and Judy Musgrave. Silver: Paul and Pam Abad. Bronze: Roland Lee and Lynn Fraser.

 4.0: Division

Gold: Robin Haney and John Kirkwood. Silver: Gil Cabral and Susan Whalen. Bronze: Mike Irwin and Sue O’Connell.

The tournament lost its longtime sponsor this year, but three Lincoln businesses stepped up to help cover the costs – Mike Schaack/Schaack Physical Therapy, Coldwell Banker Sun Ridge Real Estate and Paula Nelson/Coldwell Banker Sun Ridge Real Estate.
