The William Jessup University women's basketball schedule for 2017-2018 includes an early start with the Warriors’ first game Oct. 21.

Head coach Kurt Westendorp designed a schedule to challenge the Warriors in preseason with three ranked opponents from Oregon to prepare for a competitive Golden State Athletic Conference.

"We believe we have a much deeper team this year and our challenging schedule reflects that. We will play 10 games against teams that ended the 2016-17 season ranked in their respective top 25 polls," Westendorp said.

Jessup fans can attend the Warriors’ season opener as they welcome Northwest Christian Oct. 21 at 5:30 p.m.

Similar to last season, the Warriors will head to the University of Pacific Nov. 1 to play the Tigers in an exhibition game.

"It will be exciting for our team to take on NCAA Division I UOP again this season, after a strong showing a year ago in Stockton," said Westendorp. "Our team grew tremendously as a result of that game and I'm hoping for a repeat performance this year."

A busy November schedule continues at the annual Bill Holtz Classic on campus Nov. 3-4, where the Warriors host Oregon Tech on Friday (5 p.m.), followed by Eastern Oregon on Saturday (7 p.m.).

They will host Pacific Union Nov. 8 before hitting the road for back-to-back weekends at the FCA Classic in  Redding Nov. 11-12 and the Lithia-Oregon Tech Classic, Klamath Falls, Ore., Nov. 17-18.

Nationally recognized UC Merced visits Nov. 21, followed up by the Nov. 29 matchup with Pacific Union on the road to close the busy month's schedule.

The final non-conference portion starts with Simpson University Dec. 2 and Bethesda University Dec. 13 coming into Warrior territory. The preseason is capped off with a trio of road games at Warner Pacific Dec. 18, Corban University Dec. 19 and Cal Maritime Dec. 30.

The Warriors open GSAC play at Westmont Jan. 4 and The Master's Jan. 6. Then return home to host 2016-17 national contender Vanguard University Jan. 11and Hope International Jan. 13.

Play continues with three road games, Menlo College Jan. 20, Arizona Christian Jan. 25 and San Diego Christian Jan. 27. Then it’s back home for a second meeting with The Master's Feb. 1 and Westmont Feb. 3.

The final road series will close at Hope International Feb. 8 and Vanguard University Feb. 10, before heading home to play Menlo College Feb. 17, San Diego Christian Feb. 22 and Arizona Christian Feb. 24.
