The Lincoln High junior varsity team fell behind early, but came on strong at the end to outplay Ponderosa in the second half.

Although trailing 29-0 at halftime, the Fighting Zebras scored behind two touchdown runs by quarterback Taras Zybshko and a defense that rose up in the second half.

“We got back to the basics a little bit and made some changes at halftime,” said JV head coach Wayne Paul. “In the first half, we had a ton of penalties and a ton of mistakes.”

The Bruins’ final two scores came on an interception and a field goal, as the visitors went on to win 39-14.

The Zebras travel to Placerville to play El Dorado Friday. The Cougars lost to South Tahoe 22-21 last week.
