Former NFL quarterback Jeff Kemp to speak
Former NFL quarterback Jeff Kemp will be guest speaker Thursday, Sept. 8 at Catta Verdera Country Club in Lincoln. The William Jessup Athletic Association is hosting the inspirational speaking engagement, which is free and open to WJU and high school athletes, and coaches in the Sacramento region.
Kemp, who played 11 years in the NFL, including one season (1986) with the San Francisco 49ers, is dedicated to public service and provides inspiration leadership nationwide to help strengthen men, women and young people in the crucial areas of family relationships and teamwork.
At the Catta Verdera event (5 p.m.), Kemp will discuss the latest ideas for building leadership and share a proven strategy to help leaders be effective. Kemp will also impart the key elements to lifting others to their highest potential. He'll also address current topics such as Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), the future of the NFL, ethics in athletics, and share personal challenges he faced on the gridiron.
A Dartmouth College graduate, Kemp is the son of former Vice Presidential candidate and HUD Secretary Jack Kemp, who enjoyed a successful NFL career as quarterback with the Buffalo Bills. The Kemps were the first of only five father-son NFL quarterback combos.
Kemp is the author of “Facing The Blitz – Three Strategies for Turning Trials into Triumphs.” He is a business leader and non-profit founder, and understands the challenges athletes face on and off the field at all levels.
