The Lincoln High football program is hard at work getting ready for the 2014 campaign and will get a good idea of how they are doing at the Blue and Gold scrimmage this Saturday at the Fighting Zebras football stadium, Edward Alexander Grey Sports Complex.

The varsity begins at 9 a.m., junior varsity at 11 and freshman take the field at 1 p.m. Helping the Zebras to evaluate themselves will be the Rocklin Thunder and Antelope Titans.

Rocklin and Antelope were runner-ups in their respective leagues last season and both schools have solid football programs.

Lincoln has worked hard this summer adjusting to a new offensive and defensive scheme implemented by head coach Chris Bean. Bean took over the helm this season when longtime Zebras’ coach Ken Lowe stepped down.

Bean comes to Lincoln from Bear River, where he headed up the Bruins’ junior varsity program. In four years, Bean and his coaching staff compiled a 35-4-1 record and won three straight Pioneer Valley League titles.

All three teams will be trying out new quarterbacks, after graduating their senior signal callers from last year. However, all three squads have tremendous depth and plenty of talent returning for 2014.
