Friday deadline for City Council, school board candidates
Lincoln City Council candidates have until Friday to file papers, unless neither of the incumbents chooses to run for re-election, in which case the deadline will be extended to Wednesday.
As of press time Wednesday, only two candidates for the two Lincoln City Council seats filed paperwork with the city clerk’s office: Holly Woods-Andreatta and Planning Commissioner Dan Cross.
Two incumbents up for re-election, Mayor Stan Nader and City Councilman Gabriel Hydrick, have not filed the necessary paperwork to run. Hydrick said Tuesday he is not running for re-election. Nader, who has pulled the paperwork and collected the necessary signatures, said he is undecided but leaning toward not running.
“It bothers me that there aren’t more than two candidates,” Nader said Tuesday. “It’s not much of an election with two candidates.”
Both Woods-Andreatta and Cross have run unsuccessfully for City Council seats before.
Three Western Placer Unified School District board members who are up for re-election all have filed the necessary paperwork to appear on the November ballot: Kris Wyatt, Brian Haley and Damian Armitage. Joe Uptain-Villa has pulled the paperwork to run but has not filed yet with the city clerk.
