The Lincoln Rotary Club is sponsoring a whole blood drive in downtown Lincoln.
The event will be held from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 18.
Every blood donation has the capacity to save up to eight lives, according to Rotarian Bill Cook, coordinator for the Lincoln Rotary blood drive. Blood donors could save the lives of vulnerable people who need blood, he said.
“Infants and people who are injured or ill are especially in need of blood transfusions,” Cook said.
Donors can preregister for a specific time slot prior to Aug. 18 at eventbrite.com. Click on “Lincoln Community Blood Drive” to sign up to give blood.
Walk-ins are also welcome, according to Lincoln Rotary Club President Dan Johnson.
“The typical summer blood shortage is upon us again and we need blood donors to help us bring up the blood supply levels,” Johnson said.
Community blood drives support the blood supply at local area hospitals, according to the eventbrite website.
