The Kiwanis Club of Lincoln’s ninth annual Lincoln “Fish n’ Kids Fishing Derby” will be held at a different location this year, according to Kiwanis organizers this week.

The day-long event is open to fishing enthusiasts and novices from ages 7 to 12 in the 95648 ZIP code. It will be at the Ride To Walk ranch in Lincoln at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1, according to Kiwanis past President Gail Cirata.

“Ride To Walk offers a superior location and we anticipate a fun, educational and exciting day,” Cirata said in a July 31 email.

Sign-ups for the event will be limited to 100 participants, due to the new location, according to Cirata.  About 60 children have so far signed up since last week, as of Monday.

Participants will enjoy “the experience of fishing together in a safe environment, as they learn the catch-and-release fishing concept,” Cirata said.

The Kiwanis Club of Lincoln, Lincoln Police Activities League, Ride To Walk and the Lincoln Hills Fishing Group are co-sponsoring the activity, according to Cirata.

The Ride To Walk ranch is located across from Turkey Creek Golf Club, at 1630 Highway 193 in Lincoln.
