A fire broke out below the Camp Far West reservoir today burning 25 acres before being contained.

The blaze in brush and grassland was held by firefighters and did not cross McCourtney Road and along a ditch, with full containment coming by about 5:30 p.m. Water-bucket bombing helicopters and a fire-retardant dropping airplane hit the fire early after it was spotted in the mid-afternoon.

A Cal Fire spokesman said no structures were burned and no injuries were reported. The area of the fire is about 8 miles northwest of Auburn and 8 miles east of Wheatland.
