One of the joys of cycling in this area, especially in the more rural areas, is the opportunity to see animals close up.
Whether it is the common, like a herd of goats, or more wild, like a bear (sorry, my photo is too fuzzy for publication), being on a bike gives you the ability to stop and take a closer look (except maybe the bear).
Tom Frady is a Lincoln resident and avid cyclist and driver. On alternate weeks, this column features photographs from Placer County (and maybe some neighbors) taken while riding my bike. My hope is that the reader will be inspired to get on a bike and ride. This is a beautiful area and a wonderful place to bicycle.
