Interim chief waiting on background check
Announcement of an interim police chief for the Lincoln Police Department is still a few days away, Lincoln City Manager Matt Brower indicated Tuesday.
Brower, in an email to The Lincoln News Messenger, said announcement of the selection is “waiting on the completion of a background investigation. It should take a few more days.”
Rex Marks resigned as Lincoln police chief on July 1 following an independent investigation into concerns brought to Brower by the Lincoln Peace Officers Association. Neither the concerns, nor the findings of the investigation, have been made public by Brower.
Sgt. Brent Craft has been the acting chief since Marks’ resignation.
