Lincoln All Stars setting new baseball standards

Seniors are Division runners-up

The Lincoln Little League Baseball Senior All Stars came within one run of claiming the Divisions title in Visalia and moving onto the Regional Tournament scheduled to be played in Sacramento, starting July 19.

Lincoln fell 5-4 in the championship game against Division 5, Section 1 Oakland after compiling a 4-1 record in Divisions’ play. Lincoln’s only other loss was a 3-2 decision to the same Oakland club July 8.

In a tournament in which only one team scored more than six runs in a single game, Lincoln’s Senior All Stars compiled the following record:

July 12 – Lincoln’s boys of summer defeated D67, S6 Spreckles Park 3-2.

July 11 – The Zebra Town Boys beat D34, S7 Porterville 3-1.

Lincoln’s Austin Ratliff pitched a complete game, scattering six hits, one run and striking out three. Dylan Rhodes drove in the winning run with a sacrifice.

Clayton Coats and Petey Knell each had multiple hits.

July 9 – Lincoln eliminated D45, S3 Mt. Eden 4-3 on a walk-off sacrifice fly by Kyle Wehner.

The team got hits from Zach Chamizo, Coats, Rhodes and Wehner on their way to the win. Chamizo also pitched, giving up just four hits.

Chamizo, Clayton Coats, Rhodes, and Wehner all had one hit to lead Lincoln LL Senior All Stars.
July 8 – In the bottom of the sixth inning, Oakland scored the winning run. The D4, S1 team tied the game in the second inning on a costly error.

Evan Odin started on the mound and got relief by Knell. Chamizo was 2-for-3 at the plate.

July 7 – Max Pettey (3-4) and Rhodes led the locals in an eight-hit, 4-2 victory over D59, S5 Evergreen to open the tournament.

Pettey struck out six batters over six innings and allowed just four hits.

9-11 ALL STARS

Lincoln’s younger All Stars opened the Section 2 Tournament at Mann Park in Folsom. After defeating Rancho Cordova, 12-3, Sunday, Lincoln fell to Maidu 9-0 Monday.
