Realtors’ association hosts canned food drive for community organizations

-A +A

The Placer County Association of REALTORS (PCAR) Affiliate Committee is hosting a canned food drive to help meet the increased need for food and resources for The Salt Mine in Lincoln and the Salvation Army.

Items requested are fruit, vegetables, chicken, tuna, soups, stews, beans and meals in cans. Also needed are pasta and pasta sauce, bags of rice and beans, peanut butter, jelly, cereal, oatmeal, Top Ramen, and macaroni and cheese.

While food and financial contributions are needed year-round, summer is a time of particular need, as children and families do not have the support or access to weekly free or reduced-cost school meals. This increase in need is compounded as donors typically go on vacation and financial donations tend to drop off during this time of year.

“Many think of donating food and financial aid to those in need over the holidays but the reality is these organizations truly need our assistance on a year-round basis,” said Kevin McDonald, the Realtors’ association president. “At PCAR, we work to ensure that our members are actively engaged with their communities throughout the year and we are pleased to be able to assist The Salt Mine and Salvation Army in their efforts to help those most in need in our communities.”

Donations can be delivered to the following drop-off sites:

  • Lincoln (The Salt Mine)
Century 21 Select at 801 Sterling Parkway, Number 100.

Lincoln Potters Store at 436 Lincoln Blvd, Number 104.

  • Loomis

  • Rocklin
Placer County Association of REALTORS office at 270 Technology Way, Number 100.

Stewart Title at 2240 Douglas Blvd., Number 180
VITEK Mortgage Company at 3013 Douglas Blvd., Number 135.

Financial donations are also accepted. Checks should be made payable and mailed to PCAR Foundation, 270 Technology Way, Number 100, Rocklin, CA 95765.

The foundation actively raises resources throughout the year, hosting community events and fundraisers sponsored by regional Realtors and industry affiliates.
