The Potters come off a rough series hosting the Medford Rouges and will need to play well at Yuba Sutter before hosting the Great West League-leading Chico Heat over the 4th of July.

It will be a fireworks fourth, as the locals take on No. 1, starting Tuesday in Chico and then home Wednesday and Thursday. The Potters are the only team in the GWL to beat Chico twice.

At the plate, Lincoln’s Joe Starick will be a match for the Heat’s Parke Phillips. Starick has a .436 batting average, Phillips sits at .432. Chico home run leader Cole Lemmel (6) will be challenged by Will Law (5) and the combined RBIs (45) of Starick and Law lead the Heat’s Phillips and Andrew Meggs by nine.

But matching Chico’s pitching will be tough.

The Heat’s Justin Sterner leads the league in wins (4), strikeouts (45) and ERA (2.08).  Chico’s Ryan Sanchez, Wesley Clawson, Tucker Weaver, Dalton Smith and Shane Gustafson all rank in the top 10; Lincoln’s Eli Garcia, Jakob Frederick, Nolan Gilman and Tyler Cochran also hold that honor.

No better time to get out to McBean Stadium and Potter Up!
