Rocklin’s Mikayla English, a graduate of Whitney High School, will be lending her skills to the William Jessup University pitch starting in the 2016-2017 season.

English, a mid-center-fielder, has played the last two seasons at Sierra College, just a stone's throw from the university. While at Sierra, English earned Big Eight All-Conference honors both seasons. As a sophomore, English served as team captain, team MVP and earned academic all-conference honors.

Before Sierra College, English attended Whitney High School, earning MaxPreps Player of the Game once each during her junior and senior years. During her high school tenure, she came up field and netted 13 goals competing in 62 varsity matches. Along with her ever-present scoring threat, English excelled at winning possession for her team with 89 steals.

"I chose William Jessup University because I am a Christian and I wanted to go to a Christian/family oriented school," English said. "It was close to home and such a close, tight family-type school. I loved the campus and the people around there.

"The soccer program and the teaching program here at Jessup were extraordinary and I am very excited to get started!"

English plans to pursue a degree in liberal arts at WJU and hopes to both pursue careers in soccer and in education after graduation.
