BIG Day of Giving, a 24-hour online fundraising event held annually in the first week of May, is the largest fundraiser of the year for many nonprofit organizations in the region.

This year, the BIG Day of Giving website began failing intermittently. Even with technical difficulties, community members made donations directly to charities of their choice.

Despite technical difficulties, BIG Day of Giving ended with an estimated $7,100,000 in donations raised for 570 nonprofit organizations in the Sacramento region ($848,519 for 95 nonprofit organizations from Placer County).

The BIG Day of Giving was led by a partnership between Placer Community Foundation, Sacramento Region Community Foundation and Yolo Community Foundation.

“It is wonderful to see such strong support of local nonprofits that are doing essential, diverse work to make our community healthy and connected,” said Veronica Blake, Placer Community Foundation CEO.
