After one of the best seasons in William Jessup University golf history, the Warriors look to continue their climb in the national rankings after signing Hunter Newlin to their 2016-2017 squad.

Newlin, who hails from Canyon Lake, is a 1.3-handicap player who averaged 73 strokes per 18 holes played during his high school career.

During his three varsity seasons at Temescal Canyon High School, he earned first-team all-conference each year, won two Sunbelt League Championships and was named the 2014 Ricky Fowler Award winner for best scoring average in the Valley Junior Golf Association.

Newlin is considering a psychology major while at William Jessup and hopes to go on tour after graduation.

“I like the atmosphere at William Jessup University,” said Newlin. “I really enjoy the area; it is close to home and my dad was born here. I just want to do the best I can, always.”
