The Lincoln Potters got off to a slow start, dropping two of their first three games playing in Medford against the 2017 runners-up Rogues.

Medford’s Michael Moore out-dueled Lincoln’s Walker Dodero Thursday, to take the final game of the series. With the help of closer Jose Chavez, the duo held the Potters to just two hits, while collecting an 8-3 victory.

The highlight for Lincoln fans was Charles Middleton’s two-run home run in the sixth inning. The dinger moved the former Lincoln High star into a tie for first place in the home-run derby with teammates Will Law, Dodero and Billy Rockefeller.

Law’s home run came in the second game to drive in three runs, including Dodero for the winning run Wednesday.

Roseville right-hand pitcher Micah Gunter got all the firepower he needed to cancel the Rogues’ output. Justin Smith (Roseville), Tyler Cochran (Redding) and Brock Ragatz from Souix Falls, S.D., took the hill to assist, with Ragatz striking out two of the final three Medford batters.

Delivering at the plate for the Potters were Joe Starick (2-4, 3runs, rbi), Dodero (2-6, 3runs, 5rbi), Law (3-4, HR, 2runs, 5rbi), Brian Morley (2-4, run), Rockefeller (2-5, HR, run, 3rbi), Dylan Smethurst (1-5, run, rbi), Middleton (2-5, 3runs), Max Modeste (1-3, 2runs) and Jakob Frederick (1-5, run).
