In recognition of the great talent that comes from this area, two Lincoln players will help make up the large-school north team in this year’s 41st annual Optimist High School Softball All Star games.

The Pioneer Valley League champion Fighting Zebras will send seniors Dallas Atchley and Deja Ross to the games to be held at Capital Christian High School Wednesday.

Atchley is a college-bound all-league catcher with a .381 batting average. The senior led the PVL with nine home runs and drove 25 runs across the plate.

In 21 games played, Atchley’s fielding percentage was 1.000 and she was involved in 27 putouts.

Ross was a solid third baseman hitting .375, with two home runs, two triples and led the team with seven doubles. The senior led the league in runs scored with 23.

Lincoln High Athletic Director and softball coach Donna Tofft will be inducted into the Optimist Hall of Fame during the awards ceremony following the large-school game.

Capital Christian is located at 9470 Micron Ave., in Sacramento. The small-school game begins at 5:30 and the large school starts at 6:30.

Admission is $10, $8 (age 65-plus), $5 (students) and $3 (kids less than 12). Proceeds from these games go to support youth programs in the greater Sacramento area.
