Lincoln makes most of hosting league finals
Lincoln High School track and field records fell as the Pioneer Valley League host Fighting Zebras ran, jumped and threw at least one athlete onto the team that will compete this week at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV-V trials and finals at Chavez High School in Stockton.
The Lincoln varsity girls team placed second in the PVL, the boys third and the frosh/soph boys were league champions.
Taylor Lee set a PVL final record in the girls 400 meters, clocking 57.11 seconds. The junior shared first with Center senior Serrena Hullum. Lee also qualified for sections in the 200m (2nd) and will anchor the 4x100m (3rd) and 4x400m relay teams.
Alexis Hinojosa set a school record in the girls 100m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 15.69 for third. Hinojosa will also compete in the 300m hurdles (4th) and run legs in the 4x100m (3rd) and 4x400m relays.
The girls’ first-place 4x400m relay team of Destiny Everett, Hinojosa, Brooke Anderson and Lee set a new school record of 4:06.37.
Joseph Brown broke the LHS record in the 110m (2nd) and 300m hurdles (2nd). His times were 15.58 (110m) and 41.72 (300m).
Brown will also run a leg in the boys 4x100m relay and qualified for sections in the long jump (4th).
The boys’ first-place 4x100m relay team of James Edwards, Aidan Forward, Brown and Chase Williams set a new school record of 44.26.
Other section qualifying athletes are as follows: Everett (2nd 800m, 2nd 1600m), Sophia Anderson (4th 800), Saedy Williamson (3rd 1600m, 3rd 3200m), Atzini Lopez (4th 3200m), Tyler Smith (4th high jump, 4x100m relay), Maile Duque (3rd long jump, 3rd triple jump), Bailey Learned (2nd shot put, 3rd discus) and Macy Hopping (4x100m relay).
Smith also qualified as an alternate in the high jump and Anderson in the 100m hurdles.
Other section qualifying athletes are as follows: Williams (2nd 100m, 4th 200m), Preston Summerhays (2nd 800m, 4th 1600m, 4x400m relay), Antonio Nevarez (2nd discus), Conner Swartz (4x400m relay), Forward (4x400m relay) and Edwards (4x400m relay).
Swartz also qualified as an alternate in the 400m, Forward in the high jump and Sean Aslakson in the pole vault.
