The Lincoln Titans of the Tri-City Juniors League lost to the league-leading Junior Giants 20-13 in a battle of the bats Monday.

Coming back from a week off, the pitching and defenses of both teams were found lacking. The Giants were able to send 11 runs across the plate in the third inning and then held off the Titans for their second win of the season.

The Lincoln nine took an early 2-1 lead in the first inning, but the Tri-City bombers tied the game in the second. However, the Titans scored five runs in the top half of the third inning to go up 7-2.

But then the Junior Giants’ bats answered in a big way with an eight-hit barrage, including a two-run triple by Shane Connor. That gave the home club a 13-7 advantage they would not relinquish.

Lincoln shortstop and lead-off hitter Zach Hatten had three hits, one a double, and two runs batted in. He also scored two runs. Left-fielder Julian Ruiz tripled to go along with a base hit and a run scored.

Also getting hits were Noland Miles (single, 2 runs), Lucas Cook (single, run, rbi), Bryce Bergman (single, rbi), Turner Bloxsom (run), Brandon Doria (run) and Tyler Adams (run).

The Titans are scheduled to play the Spartans at McBean Park Saturday, game time 5 p.m.
