Zebras’ bats smoke in wins over Foothill, Sutter

Lincoln opens league; Colfax Thursday, Center Friday

Coming off of back-to-back losses, the Lincoln High baseball team unleashed its power and run-ruled both Foothill and Sutter with 22 runs last week.

Lincoln 10, Sutter 0

It took the Fighting Zebras just three innings to compile 10 runs and five to hold the Huskies scoreless for a non-conference victory Friday.

Charles Middleton and Ryan Graham both hit doubles; Middleton had two. Middleton drove in four runs and Graham three.

Brennan Rozell had two runs batted in. The junior shortstop recently made a verbal commitment to play for California State University Long Beach. James Sweet also had and RBI.

Batting: Javier Sandoval (2runs), Rozell (1b, 2runs), Graham (2b, run, 3RBI), Sweet (1b, run, RBI), Jared Palmyra (2-3, 2runs), Ty Williams (1b) and Alex Fong (2-3, run); Fong also had a stolen base.

Zach Eutsey started on the mound and pitched four innings. The junior scattered three hits and struck out three. Leo Martinez came on for an inning of relief, giving up a hit and striking out one.

The Zebras had no errors in the contest.

Lincoln 12, Foothill 1

The Zebras opened Pioneer Valley League competition hosting the Mustangs Thursday. With a 10-run first inning, the game was all but over going just four and a half more innings.

Kyle Smolich was the starting pitcher. The senior gave up four hits, no walks and struck out three.

Graham and Ty Williams tripled in the game; Williams also had a double. Sweet, Middleton and Fong also doubled.

Batting: Connor Manley (2RBI), Isaac Adams (1b), Rozell (2runs), Graham (2b, 2run, RBI), Sweet (2b, 2 runs, RBI), Palmyra (1b, 2runs, RBI), Moises Huerta (run), Williams (2b, 3b, run, 2RBI), Middleton (1b, 2b, 3runs, 2RBI) and Fong (2b, run, RBI). Rozell stole two bases and Palmyra one.

Lincoln was error free and turned a double play.

The Zebras were scheduled to host Center Tuesday and Colfax Thursday, weather permitting.
