OPENING DAY: Lincoln Hills Softball April 8 at Del Webb FieldBy: Jim Linsdau of The News Messenger
The Lincoln Hills Senior Softball League will hold its opening day ceremonies at Del Webb Field April 8 beginning at 8:45 a.m.
The activities will open at 9 with a few welcoming remarks and acknowledgements of those who have been instrumental in maintaining the league over the last 18 years.
This will be followed by Hall of Fame presentations and the Presentation of Colors, along with the National Anthem. After some special announcements, Lincoln Mayor, Peter Gilbert, will toss out the first pitch.
Those festivities will be capped by the singing of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” and all children 12-and-under will run the bases.
Six three-inning exhibition games are scheduled to follow. Food, beverages and a bake sale is planned for that softball appetite and there will be a continuous drawing for some great prizes.
There will be attractions and fun galore, and all are invited “out to the ballgame.”
In case of rain, the opening day will be rescheduled for April 15.
