Junior high and middle school wrestlers throughout the state will hit the mats at the 48th Annual NorCal Tournament of Champions (TOC) Saturday at Del Oro High School in Loomis.

Georgetown Wrestling Club in conjunction with Placer Valley Tourism will host the tournament expecting more than 500 wrestlers. There will be 19 different weight classes ranging from 70-235 pounds.

"I'm proud to say we try to make it better each year and working with Steve (Cole) and the guys at Del Oro has been especially terrific, plus our referees are literally the best in California, as almost all of them have been chosen to officiate at the California high school state tournament," said Rod Hedlund, the longtime tournament director. "We've had unbelievable support from PVT for several years now and it makes the tournament just that much better for everyone involved."

The doors open at 7:30 a.m. and the first matches will begin at 8:45. Admission for adults is $7, over 60 and ages 12-18 is $3 and under 12 is free.

Del Oro High School is located at 3302 Taylor Road in Loomis.
