To brighten the lives of orphans in San Felipe, Mexico, local high school students are asking for donations from the Lincoln community.

Members of Lincoln High School Interact, a Rotary-sponsored service club, are heading up a drive to help 16 children in a Baja, Mexico orphanage.

Donated items include non-perishable healthy snacks, suntan lotion, children’s sun glasses, toothpaste and tooth brushes, children’s blankets and small pillows, stuffed animals, balls, jump ropes and other toys. All those items must fit in a 30-inch backpack.

Checks can also be mailed to Rotary member Kris Wyatt, 2601 Wise Road, Lincoln, CA 95648. For a tax-deduction, address checks to Lincoln Rotary Foundation.

Donated items can be dropped off at The Lincoln News Messenger office at 553 F St. through March 31.
